2026-27 Age Group Change

Starting with the 2026-27 season, US Club Soccer (TCSL's sanctioning partner), in addition to other major youth organizations will switch to school-year (Aug 1-July 31) age grouping.

This is a change from the current birth year age groups.

The age group change begins with the Fall 2026 season.

Families should use the new age group matrix to determine their player's age for the 2026-27 season.

The new age groups will be used for the 2026-27 competitive tryouts in July 2026.

CC United Soccer will continue to update this page throughout the season to keep our families up-to-date with the changes.

Why the age group change?

  • Grade-Level Alignment Petition (Optional)

If your player has an August birthday AND their school grade does not align with their birth year group (ie, they started school early), these players have the option to petition to play with their grade level.

This Grade Alignment Petition is not a "play up" request based on skill, but a request to tryout at the older age group to align a player on a team that matches their academic grade level.

    August Birthdays:

    • Players with an August birthday whose school grade does not align with their age group (i.e. they are placed in the age group younger than their school grade) have the option to submit a Grade Alignment Petition before tryouts.

    June/July Birthdays:

    • Players born in June/July AND whose grade level does not align will need to tryout in their age group - NOT your school grade level. The leagues do not allow players to 'play down'.

The club will review all requests and confirm age group placement based on the school documentation provided. Once your petition has been accepted, you will only be required to tryout in the new age group.  You will not be placed or considered for a team at the lower age group.
